A political support group operating within the Niger Delta region, Tompolo Solidarity Forum<\/strong>, has thrown its weight behind the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu<\/strong>, declaring that the current federal government has taken strategic steps capable of stabilizing the region and strengthening Nigeria\u2019s economic recovery.<\/p>\n

In a press statement issued on March 26, 2026<\/strong>, and made available to journalists, the group strongly criticized what it described as anti-development tendencies by certain leaders in the Niger Delta<\/strong>, warning that divisive rhetoric and actions capable of undermining regional stability must be avoided.<\/p>\n

The statement, which emanated from the creeks of the Niger Delta<\/strong>, emphasized that the Forum\u2019s endorsement of President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections<\/strong> was based on what it described as \u201cobservable policy direction and deliberate government interventions\u201d aimed at addressing long-standing socio-economic concerns in the oil-rich region.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the Forum, the Chairman of the Tompolo Solidarity Forum (Prince Ubula E. O)<\/strong> noted that the current administration has demonstrated clear commitment to peacebuilding, economic recovery, and inclusive governance<\/strong>, particularly in Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Ondo and Rivers States.<\/p>\n

According to the group, the relative peace recorded across several communities in the Niger Delta in recent times<\/strong> is not accidental but the product of sustained engagement between the Federal Government and local stakeholders.<\/p>\n

The Forum further cautioned certain Niger Delta leaders and former agitators against making statements or engaging in activities capable of rekindling instability or undermining ongoing development initiatives in the region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge all stakeholders to adopt a constructive approach to issues affecting the Niger Delta. Sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and responsible leadership,\u201d the statement noted.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the historical development trajectory of the Niger Delta<\/strong>, the Forum acknowledged that the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)<\/strong> in 2000 under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo<\/strong> was initially welcomed with great optimism by the people of the region.<\/p>\n

However, it observed that despite the lofty expectations surrounding the interventionist agency, the pace of infrastructural and socio-economic development has fallen short of the aspirations of many communities<\/strong>, a situation that contributed to renewed agitation in the region in later years.<\/p>\n

The Forum also recalled the historical struggles of Niger Delta nationalists, particularly the activism of Major Isaac Adaka Boro<\/strong>, whose agitation for justice and resource control remains a defining chapter in the region\u2019s political history.<\/p>\n

While acknowledging these historical grievances, the group stressed that the path forward must be anchored on constructive engagement and strategic partnerships with government institutions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The statement also paid glowing tribute to Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo<\/strong>, describing him as a central figure in sustaining peace and stability across the Niger Delta<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the Forum, Tompolo\u2019s leadership has played a vital role in bridging the gap between local communities and federal authorities, thereby contributing to the reduction of militant activities in recent years.<\/p>\n

The group particularly commended the Federal Government for awarding the pipeline surveillance contract to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited<\/strong>, noting that the initiative has significantly improved oil infrastructure protection across the Niger Delta.<\/p>\n

It added that the surveillance contract has led to increased crude oil production, improved national revenue generation, and expanded employment opportunities for youths within host communities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese developments are already producing measurable economic benefits not only for the Niger Delta but for the entire Nigerian economy,\u201d the Forum stated.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming its mission, the Tompolo Solidarity Forum<\/strong> pledged to continue advocating for peace, regional development, and human capacity building across the Niger Delta<\/strong>, while encouraging cooperation among political leaders, community stakeholders, and federal institutions.<\/p>\n

The Forum concluded by urging all stakeholders to remain united in pursuing the collective interests of the Niger Delta region and the broader Nigerian federation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
