As tensions continue to rise over the controversial ward and polling unit delineation issues affecting communities within the Warri Federal Constituency of Delta State, a prominent political figure and aspirant to the Delta State House of Assembly, Comrade Ugular Moses, has made a passionate appeal for peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence among the three major ethnic nationalities in the area—the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo peoples.
The Egbema Kingdom-born politician, who is seeking to represent Warri North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, called on residents and stakeholders across ethnic divides to embrace dialogue and understanding rather than conflict, stressing that the future of the region depends largely on the ability of its people to live together peacefully.
In a strongly worded statement made available to the public, Comrade Ugular expressed concern over the growing tensions generated by discussions surrounding ward and polling unit delineation, warning that political disagreements should never be allowed to destroy decades of peaceful coexistence among neighboring communities.
According to him, the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo ethnic nationalities have for generations shared a common history, cultural interactions, economic relationships, and developmental aspirations that have contributed significantly to the growth and stability of Warri Federal Constituency and Delta State at large.
He emphasized that diversity should serve as a foundation for strength, cooperation, and progress rather than becoming a source of division and hostility.
The aspirant noted that while citizens have every right to pursue justice and express concerns through lawful means, no political or administrative process should result in violence, destruction of property, loss of human lives, or the breakdown of social harmony.
He urged all parties involved in the ongoing debates to exercise restraint and approach every disagreement through dialogue, constitutional engagement, and peaceful negotiation.
“Political and administrative processes come and go, but our shared future and collective prosperity remain paramount,” he stated.
Comrade Ugular further appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, women organizations, religious leaders, political actors, and all stakeholders across the region to intensify efforts toward promoting peace and fostering understanding among their people.
He stressed that influential leaders within the various ethnic nationalities have a crucial responsibility to calm tensions and prevent misinformation, provocation, or inflammatory rhetoric capable of escalating the situation.
The Warri North Assembly hopeful also cautioned residents against allowing themselves to be manipulated by individuals or groups whose interests may be served by division and conflict.
According to him, genuine development can only flourish in an atmosphere of peace, stability, and cooperation.
He urged the people of Warri Federal Constituency to focus on common interests rather than ethnic differences, emphasizing that the region’s economic prosperity, social advancement, and political relevance depend on collective efforts and mutual respect among all ethnic groups.
“As a son of Egbema Kingdom with ties and respect across ethnic lines, I remain committed to the ideals of justice, fairness, inclusiveness, and peaceful coexistence for all,” he declared.
