High Chief Gen. Perez Ejune Goki Commends Hon. Alhaji E. Omoko, Elder Edmund Doyah Tiemo, High Chief Promise Lawuru, EYC and IYC Reconciliation Committee for Restoring Peace Between Ajakurama and Abere Communities

High Chief Gen. Perez Ejune Goki has publicly expressed profound appreciation to the Egbema Youth Council (EYC) Worldwide, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) representatives, and members of the Ajakurama-Abere Reconciliation Committee for their outstanding roles in restoring peace between Ajakurama and Abere communities in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State.
In a goodwill message made available to Global Egberi Media International Ltd., High Chief Goki praised the committee for demonstrating exemplary leadership, impartiality, and unwavering commitment to dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence, culminating in the successful resolution of the communal dispute.
He particularly commended the President of the Egbema Youth Council (EYC) Worldwide, Barr. Amatelemowei A. Sode, who chaired the reconciliation committee, for providing purposeful leadership throughout the peace process. According to him, the committee’s efforts have restored hope and strengthened unity among the people of Egbema Kingdom.
High Chief Goki also paid glowing tribute to three distinguished Egbema leaders whose wisdom, dedication, and commitment greatly contributed to the success of the reconciliation exercise:
- Hon. Alhaji E. Omoko
- Elder Edmund Doyah Tiemo
- High Chief Promise Lawuru
He noted that the three leaders, together with every member of the reconciliation committee, placed the interest of peace above every other consideration, demonstrating courage, fairness, and a genuine desire to unite the affected communities.
The community leader further extended his appreciation to all elders, youth leaders, stakeholders, and representatives of both the Egbema Youth Council (EYC) and the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that dialogue prevailed over conflict.
Describing the reconciliation as a landmark achievement for the entire Egbema Kingdom, High Chief Goki said the successful peace initiative has renewed confidence in the ability of community leaders and youth organizations to resolve disputes through consultation, mutual respect, and understanding.
He expressed optimism that, by the grace of God, both communities would peacefully share the disputed land on the agreed implementation date of 31st August, 2026, describing the development as a victory for peace, justice, and unity.
According to him, “The maturity, wisdom, and unity demonstrated by our leaders and youths have rekindled our hope for enduring peace. By choosing reconciliation over conflict, you have written a new chapter in the history of our communities.”
The appreciation message has continued to receive commendation from members of the Egbema Kingdom, many of whom described the reconciliation as a major breakthrough that will strengthen peaceful coexistence, promote development, and foster stronger relationships among the people.
As preparations continue for the implementation of the peace agreement on 31st August, 2026, stakeholders have expressed confidence that the reconciliation will remain a shining example of how dialogue, responsible leadership, and collective commitment can successfully resolve communal disputes.
