Opuama Leadership: Shola Korokoro Fires Back at Goodluck Ojusin, Rejects Allegations and Defends Omoko’s Administration
Bloc President describes accusations as propaganda, challenges critics to produce evidence and urges Opuama youths to reject divisive narratives

OPUAMA, DELTA STATE — The President of the Opuama Bloc of Communities, Chief Shola K. Korokoro, has mounted a strong defence of the leadership of Opuama, rejecting a series of allegations attributed to Mr. Goodluck Ojusin and describing the claims as false, inflammatory and calculated to create division within the community.
Korokoro, in a strongly worded public disclaimer issued in response to the allegations, defended the integrity of the Opuama leadership and particularly the contributions of Hon. Alhaji Omoko, Ambassador Jude Ebitimi Ukori and Hon. Spencer Okpoye to the development of Opuama and the wider bloc.
The controversy followed statements attributed to Ojusin, who has identified himself as leader of the Alhaji Omoko Must Go Movement.
Among other claims, Ojusin questioned the authority of the office of Chairman of the Opuama Oil Block, alleged that the position lacked a functional structure and claimed that the office was being used as a compensatory arrangement.
He also alleged that Chief Korokoro could not independently provide employment opportunities for Opuama youths without approval from Alhaji Omoko.
But Korokoro has dismissed the allegations, insisting that they do not reflect the realities of the leadership structure or the relationship among the community’s established leadership.
Korokoro: “The allegations are false and misleading”
According to Korokoro, the accusations directed at him and other community leaders are not legitimate criticism but an attempt to damage the reputation of individuals who have contributed to Opuama’s development.
He particularly rejected what he described as public insults and malicious narratives directed at Alhaji Omoko, Ambassador Jude Ebitimi Ukori and Hon. Spencer Okpoye.
The Opuama Bloc President maintained that the three leaders have played significant roles in supporting members of the community through employment opportunities, youth empowerment and other interventions.
He argued that disagreements over community leadership should not be allowed to degenerate into personal attacks or unsubstantiated allegations.
Defence of Alhaji Omoko
A central feature of Korokoro’s response is his defence of Alhaji Omoko’s leadership.
The Bloc President described Omoko as a transparent and fair leader who, according to him, has consistently worked to ensure that opportunities and benefits accruing to the people are distributed across Opuama and the wider bloc.
Korokoro specifically pointed to financial allocations, youth empowerment initiatives and employment opportunities as areas in which, he said, the leadership has continued to serve community interests.
His position is significant because the current controversy is increasingly centred on whether Opuama’s leadership has adequately represented the interests of its youths.
Korokoro’s response is that the appropriate way to assess leadership is through verifiable records, measurable development and constructive engagement—not through social-media accusations.
“Produce evidence”
One of the strongest points in Korokoro’s rebuttal is his challenge to those making allegations to provide evidence.
He maintained that serious accusations concerning community finances, abuse of office or misconduct should never be treated as established facts merely because they have been circulated online.
According to him, anyone who possesses credible evidence of wrongdoing should present such evidence before appropriate authorities or recognized community institutions.
He argued that this would allow the allegations to be properly examined instead of turning social media into a substitute for investigation.
Publicly available records show Korokoro’s leadership role
Chief Korokoro’s defence also comes against the backdrop of his publicly reported involvement in Opuama community affairs.
A December 2025 report by Vanguard listed Chief Shola Korokoro as President of the Opuama Bloc executives during a community response concerning relationships between Opuama, Polobubo and oil companies operating in the area. (Vanguard News)
Another Vanguard report on Opuama’s cultural festival also identified Korokoro as President of the Opuama Bloc of Communities and listed him among members of the planning committee alongside other prominent community figures. (Vanguard News)
These public records provide context to Korokoro’s assertion that he occupies a recognized leadership position within the Opuama bloc.
Korokoro rejects attempt to discredit leadership through personal attacks
The Opuama leader also took exception to what he described as attempts to attack the personal credibility of community leaders rather than address issues through institutional channels.
He said criticism is an important part of democratic participation but stressed that it must be responsible and evidence-based.
He urged members of the community not to allow personal disagreements to undermine the collective interests of Opuama.
Response to allegations concerning Ojusin
In his statement, Korokoro also made claims concerning the educational and personal background of Ojusin.
Those claims, like the allegations made against Korokoro, remain disputed and have not been independently established by this publication.
However, Korokoro’s larger argument is that the credibility of any accusation should ultimately be determined by evidence rather than by social-media campaigns or personal exchanges.
Opuama leadership calls for peace and unity
The Bloc President called on Opuama youths and other members of the community to remain focused on issues that directly affect their future, including employment, empowerment, education, infrastructure and sustainable development.
He warned against what he described as inflammatory rhetoric capable of dividing the people.
According to him, the community’s challenges require collective engagement and responsible leadership rather than an atmosphere of permanent confrontation.
A battle over leadership, accountability and the future of Opuama
The latest exchange has exposed deeper questions about leadership, accountability and youth participation in Opuama.
While Ojusin and his supporters are demanding greater accountability and changes in the existing leadership structure, Korokoro’s response is that such demands must be pursued through evidence, dialogue and established community mechanisms.
For Korokoro, the current controversy should not become a platform for destroying the reputations of community leaders who, according to him, have contributed to the development and welfare of Opuama.
He therefore urged the people of Opuama to reject what he described as propaganda, personal attacks and unverified allegations.
The Opuama Bloc President reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity, constructive dialogue and development, insisting that the community’s interests must remain above individual disagreements.
As the controversy continues, the most important test for all sides will be the production of verifiable facts and documentary evidence to support their respective positions.
For now, Chief Shola Korokoro has made his position unmistakably clear: he rejects the allegations against himself and the leadership of Opuama, stands by the administration of Alhaji Omoko, and challenges critics to take their claims beyond social media and submit credible evidence through appropriate channels.
