Ovuru I Backs Omoko, Warns Against Unsubstantiated Allegations

OFUNAMA, EDO STATE — The Ovuru I of Ofunama Land, HRH Hon. Henry Binidodogha, has expressed a strong vote of confidence in the leadership of Opuama under Alhaji Omoko, while cautioning against the circulation of serious allegations without credible and verifiable evidence.
The traditional ruler made his position known while reacting to a recent public statement by Goodluck Ojusin, Leader of the “Alhaji Omoko Must Go Movement,” concerning the administration and financial affairs of Opuama community.
Ojusin had called for the publication of the community’s accounts and demanded changes in the leadership of the community, while announcing plans to mobilise support for a new leadership structure.
Reacting to the development, HRH Binidodogha warned Opuama stakeholders, particularly the youths, against allowing leadership disagreements to escalate into confrontation, division or actions capable of threatening the peace of the community.
The monarch stressed that allegations bordering on financial misconduct, diversion of community resources or abuse of office are grave matters that must be supported by evidence and subjected to proper investigation.
He urged anyone in possession of credible evidence of wrongdoing to present such evidence before the appropriate authorities rather than relying on public accusations or social-media campaigns.
According to the traditional ruler, nobody should be declared guilty merely because allegations have been made against them.
He also cautioned against the introduction of personal matters and character attacks into community leadership disputes, insisting that leaders should be assessed on verifiable records, accountability, performance and service to their people.
HRH Binidodogha further warned against attempts to establish parallel leadership or remove recognised community leaders through unilateral declarations, threats or social-media mobilisation.
He maintained that any genuine grievance concerning the administration of Opuama should be pursued through the recognised constitutional, traditional and community mechanisms.
VOTE OF CONFIDENCE
In a clear demonstration of confidence, HRH Hon. Henry Binidodogha expressed his support for Alhaji Omoko and the recognised leadership of Opuama, urging them to remain focused on peace, unity and sustainable development.
The monarch equally encouraged the leadership to continue to promote transparency and engage appropriately with stakeholders whenever legitimate concerns are raised.
He maintained that Opuama is bigger than any individual, group or political movement and should not be allowed to become divided by disagreements over leadership.
The traditional ruler appealed to all parties to sheathe their swords and embrace dialogue, stressing that legitimate disputes can be resolved peacefully without sacrificing the unity and stability of the community.
“Let us disagree without destroying one another. Let us demand accountability without making unproven accusations. Let us pursue justice without sacrificing peace.”
HRH Binidodogha further called on the youths of Opuama to resist any attempt to use them as instruments of confrontation, urging them instead to channel their energy toward constructive engagement and community development.
The monarch’s intervention comes amid heightened public attention over the leadership situation in Opuama and renewed calls for accountability.
While legitimate questions concerning community administration may be raised, HRH Binidodogha’s position is that such concerns must be addressed through evidence, dialogue and due process.
He therefore urged all stakeholders to remain calm and committed to the collective interest of Opuama.
Opuama deserves development, accountability, unity and peace — not division and confrontation.
