Egbema Youths Unite Across Edo, Delta, Endorse Political Cooperation and Take Key Resolutions

The ancient town of Sapele, Delta State, became a rallying point for political consciousness and youth engagement on Saturday, May 30, 2026, as members of the Egbema Youth Political Forum (EGYPF), under the chairmanship of Barr. Ebigba S. Baidi, BL, LL.B, convened a strategic meeting to deliberate on pressing political issues affecting the Egbema Kingdom.
The gathering, which attracted youths from both Edo and Delta States, provided a platform for robust discussions on the political future of the kingdom, the welfare of its people, and the need for greater unity among stakeholders across the region.
Participants described the meeting as fruitful, productive, and timely, especially at a period when political realignments and constitutional developments are shaping the future of communities within the Niger Delta region.
Speaking during the meeting, participants expressed profound appreciation to political leaders, traditional stakeholders, and community advocates who have consistently worked towards advancing the interests of the Egbema Kingdom on various political fronts.
The forum emphasized that sustainable development and effective representation can only be achieved through collective action, unity of purpose, and strategic engagement with political institutions.
Call for Unity Across Egbema Kingdom
One of the major resolutions reached at the meeting was a passionate appeal for greater unity among leaders and youths across the Egbema Kingdom in both Edo and Delta States.
The youths stressed that the kingdom’s strength lies in its ability to speak with one voice on issues affecting its collective destiny. They maintained that political divisions and internal rivalries often weaken the bargaining power of communities and hinder development.
According to the forum, fostering unity remains the most effective pathway toward achieving meaningful political representation and attracting government attention to the needs of the kingdom.
Commendation for INEC on Ward Delineation Report
The forum also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for releasing the final report on the ward delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency.
The youths described the development as a significant step toward strengthening democratic representation and ensuring fairness in the electoral process.
While welcoming the report, they appealed to all parties dissatisfied with aspects of the outcome to embrace dialogue and accept the commission’s findings in good faith, emphasizing that peace and stability should remain paramount.
The meeting further called on INEC to ensure the full implementation of the delineation report in accordance with constitutional provisions and electoral guidelines.
Resolution to Protect Egbema Political Interests
In another key resolution, participants unanimously agreed to resist any political decision or action considered detrimental to the collective interests of the Egbema Kingdom.
The youths reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the political rights, territorial interests, and developmental aspirations of the kingdom, pledging to remain vigilant and actively engaged in issues that affect their communities.
Withdrawal of Support from Omosede Igbinedion
The forum also announced its decision to withdraw support from former House of Representatives member, Omosede Igbinedion, who is reportedly seeking to return to the Green Chamber to represent the people of Ovia South West Local Government Area and other Ijaw communities in Edo State.
According to the resolution, the decision was informed by concerns over public remarks allegedly made by the former lawmaker regarding the proposed creation of Toru-Ibe State, which participants considered offensive to the interests and aspirations of the Ijaw people.
Members of the forum stated that the position reflected a collective decision reached after extensive deliberations and consultations among participants.
Aspirants Across Party Lines Attend Meeting
The meeting witnessed the presence of political aspirants from various political parties and constituencies in both Edo and Delta States, underscoring the growing significance of youth participation in regional politics.
Among those present was Dr. Odimientimi Agbedeyi, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the Ovia South West Constituency seat in the Edo State House of Assembly.
Also in attendance were Barrister Agabra, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) flag bearer, aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from Warri and Ovia South West, as well as an aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from Warri North.
Participants noted that the attendance of aspirants from diverse political platforms demonstrated a shared commitment to dialogue, inclusion, and the pursuit of solutions to issues affecting the Egbema Kingdom.
A New Chapter of Political Consciousness
As the meeting concluded, participants expressed optimism that the resolutions reached would contribute to greater political awareness, stronger community engagement, and enhanced cooperation among stakeholders across the kingdom.
Observers described the gathering as a significant step toward consolidating the political voice of Egbema youths and ensuring that the kingdom remains actively involved in shaping decisions that affect its future.
