EDO IJAW LEADERS DECLARE SUPPORT FOR TOMPOLO’S PBAT DOOR-TO-DOOR CAMPAIGN, PLEDGE MASSIVE MOBILISATION FOR TINUBU

BENIN CITY, EDO STATE — Ijaw leaders and stakeholders from five clans in Edo State have declared their support for the Tompolo PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign, pledging to mobilise voters across riverine communities of the state ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The declaration was made during an enlarged meeting of the PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign held on September 16, 2026, in Benin City, Edo State, where representatives of the five Ijaw clans expressed their commitment to the campaign and its grassroots mobilisation efforts.
The participating leaders declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, according to the statement issued following the meeting.
The development signals an effort by the campaign to strengthen its grassroots structures and deepen engagement with Ijaw communities in the riverine areas of Edo State.
FIVE IJAW CLANS REPRESENTED
The enlarged meeting brought together leaders and stakeholders representing five Ijaw clans in Edo State.
Those listed as signatories to the declaration are:
- Hon. Baje Famous — Olodiama Clan
- Mr. Iyepabra Uroupa — Egbema Clan
- Chief Ojijor Tombrapagha — Gbaran Clan
- Chief Damien Atele — Okomu Clan
- Chief Lucky Awobi — Furupa Clan
The signatories said they would support the campaign’s grassroots mobilisation efforts and work within their respective communities to engage voters ahead of the election.
TRADITIONAL RULERS THROW WEIGHT BEHIND MOBILISATION
The meeting also featured traditional rulers and representatives from Ijaw clans across three local government areas of Edo State.
A representative of the traditional rulers, HRH Binidodogha Henry, also known as Egbema I, reportedly endorsed the Tompolo PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign during the gathering.
He was also said to have pledged the support of traditional and community structures towards mobilising residents in the riverine communities of Edo State for the campaign’s stated objective of securing support for President Tinubu.
The declaration places particular emphasis on the riverine communities, with campaign stakeholders seeking to take their message directly to residents at the grassroots.
TOMPOLO’S PBAT DOOR-TO-DOOR CAMPAIGN
The meeting forms part of efforts by supporters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign to establish a stronger grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
