Triumph of Unity: INC Benin City, Edo Clans Hail Igbadiwei’s Presidential Victory

In a resounding demonstration of solidarity and renewed hope for the future of the Ijaw nation, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) Benin City Chapter, in collaboration with the five (5) Ijaw Clans in Edo State, has congratulated High Chief MacDonald Igbadiwei on his emergence as President-elect of the Ijaw National Congress (Worldwide).
The landmark victory, recorded at the just-concluded INC National Election held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the Ijaw House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, marks a defining moment in the political advancement of the Ijaw people. His emergence, as officially declared by the Justice Tabai-led Electoral Commission, has been widely celebrated as a reflection of the collective will, democratic maturity, and shared aspirations of Ijaw people across all zones and communities.
The leadership of the Benin City Chapter described the victory as both symbolic and strategic, noting that High Chief Igbadiwei’s emergence signals a new era of intellectually vibrant, politically conscious, and development-driven leadership for the Ijaw nation.
According to the statement, his broad understanding of the unique social, economic, and political realities affecting various clans and zones made him a strong unifying figure capable of inspiring confidence among delegates and stakeholders alike.
They further stated that his overwhelming support at the polls was earned through years of commitment, advocacy, accessibility, and unwavering dedication to Ijaw unity, progress, and collective advancement.
Particularly commendable, according to the chapter, was the President-elect’s post-election declaration that he intends to run an inclusive administration by bringing together all six presidential candidates into a strategic policy think tank for the benefit of the Ijaw nation.
The chapter noted that such a bold and visionary approach demonstrates maturity, statesmanship, and a commitment to collective governance rather than divisive politics.
They urged the President-elect to activate the process immediately after assuming office in order to harness the experience, intellect, and goodwill of all key stakeholders toward building a stronger and more united Ijaw nation.
The Benin City Chapter and the Edo Ijaw Clans expressed confidence in his capacity to fulfill campaign promises and provide transformational leadership anchored on integrity, accountability, and inclusiveness.
They further charged him to hit the ground running upon inauguration by prioritizing policies that will uplift the political relevance, economic wellbeing, and cultural heritage of Ijaw people at home and across the diaspora.
In their concluding remarks, the leaders prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and clarity of purpose for the President-elect, expressing optimism that his tenure would usher in an era of innovation, unity, justice, and sustainable development.
