A NEW DAWN FOR OVIA SOUTH-WEST
My beloved people of Ovia South-West Constituency — the great Ijaw and Bini sons and daughters, respected elders, hardworking youths, market women, fishermen, farmers, artisans, students, professionals, and community leaders.
Today, I stand before you not merely as a politician, but as your brother, your son, your voice, and your partner in the struggle for a better future.
For too long, our communities have suffered neglect despite our enormous contributions to the growth and economy of Edo State and Nigeria. Our roads remain poor, our youths remain unemployed, our schools lack adequate facilities, our riverine communities are underdeveloped, and our people continue to cry for genuine representation.
The time has come for a new generation of leadership — leadership built on honesty, courage, accessibility, competence, unity, and people-centered development.
I, Dr. Odimientimi Desmond Agbedeyi, humbly present this manifesto as a social contract between myself and the good people of Ovia South-West Constituency.
Together, we shall rise.
Together, we shall rebuild.
Together, we shall restore hope.
MY CORE VISION
To build an Ovia South-West where:
- Every community feels represented.
- Every youth has hope.
- Every woman has opportunities.
- Every child has access to quality education.
- Every elder is respected.
- Every ethnic group lives in unity and mutual respect.
- Development reaches both riverine and upland communities.
OUR SEVEN-POINT AGENDA
1. UNITY AND PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE
Ovia South-West belongs to all of us — Ijaw and Bini alike.
I will promote:
- Equal representation for all communities.
- Peaceful dialogue among ethnic groups.
- Cultural respect and inclusiveness.
- Grassroots reconciliation and unity programs.
- Community engagement forums across wards.
We must never allow politics divide us. Our strength lies in unity.
2. YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND JOB CREATION
Our youths are energetic, talented, and intelligent, yet many remain unemployed.
My administration will:
- Establish youth skill acquisition programs.
- Facilitate ICT and digital training centers.
- Support local entrepreneurs and small businesses.
- Create agricultural and fishery empowerment schemes.
- Attract vocational development programs.
- Push for youth inclusion in governance.
The youths will no longer be used only during elections and abandoned afterward.
3. EDUCATION AND HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT
Education remains the greatest weapon against poverty.
I will advocate for:
- Better learning facilities in public schools.
- Scholarships and bursaries for students.
- Science and technology development programs.
- Teacher support and educational incentives.
- Adult literacy and vocational education initiatives.
No child in Ovia South-West should be denied education because of poverty.
4. INFRASTRUCTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Development must reach every community.
I will push for:
- Better roads across Ovia South-West.
- Rural electrification projects.
- Improved water supply systems.
- Health center upgrades.
- Riverine transportation support.
- Modern markets and community projects.
Our people deserve modern infrastructure and quality living conditions.
5. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND SOCIAL WELFARE
Women remain the backbone of our communities.
My agenda includes:
- Support programs for widows and vulnerable women.
- Soft loans for traders and small businesses.
- Maternal healthcare advocacy.
- Women inclusion in leadership and decision-making.
A stronger woman means a stronger family and community.
6. TRANSPARENCY, ACCESSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Leadership must serve the people, not itself.
I pledge to:
- Maintain an open-door leadership style.
- Provide regular constituency briefings.
- Engage directly with communities.
- Ensure transparency in all constituency projects.
- Remain accessible to the people at all times.
I will not disappear after elections.
7. SECURITY AND COMMUNITY PROTECTION
Peace and security are necessary for development.
I will support:
- Community policing initiatives.
- Youth engagement against cultism and crime.
- Collaboration with security agencies.
- Advocacy against piracy, kidnapping, and violence.
Our communities must become safe for businesses, families, and future generations.
WHY I AM DIFFERENT
I am not coming to politics for personal enrichment.
I am coming to serve.
As an academician, activist, development advocate, and grassroots mobilizer, I understand the pains and aspirations of our people.
I know:
- The struggles of our fishermen.
- The cries of unemployed graduates.
- The challenges of market women.
- The neglect facing riverine communities.
- The dreams of our youths.
This campaign is not about empty promises.
It is about practical solutions and genuine representation.
MY PROMISE TO THE PEOPLE
If elected:
- I will be your voice in the Edo State House of Assembly.
- I will defend the interests of Ovia South-West.
- I will pursue people-oriented legislation.
- I will fight for fairness, inclusion, and development.
- I will remain loyal to the people, not political godfathers.
A CALL FOR UNITY
To the Ijaw people, the Bini people, and every resident of Ovia South-West:
This election is not about tribe.
It is about our collective future.
Let us reject division.
Let us reject intimidation.
Let us reject politics of bitterness.
Together, we can build a constituency where every child can dream again.

I therefore call on:
