Molos Sparks Hope in Ese-Odo Schools, Distributes 6,000 Exercise Books to Pupils
A wave of excitement swept across the education sector in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State as the Executive Chairman of the Council, High Chief Caleb Ebimobowei Molos, rolled out a major educational support initiative aimed at easing the burden on parents and strengthening learning conditions for pupils across the riverine local government.
In a remarkable gesture described by education stakeholders as timely and impactful, the council chairman presented no fewer than 6,000 exercise books to pupils in public primary schools throughout Ese-Odo LGA during an official ceremony held at the Local Authority Mega Primary School, Igbekebo.
The intervention, which is expected to benefit pupils across the 73 public primary schools within the local government area, has already been widely applauded by teachers, parents, school administrators, and community leaders who see it as a bold step toward reviving confidence in public education within the coastal communities.
The exercise books were formally handed over to key education officials including the Area Education Officer, Mr. Ijanpele Mada Isaiah; the Acting Education Secretary, Dr. Aina B. B.; the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ese-Odo LGA, Barrister Wilson Duinbaijutuwaton Ajama; and representatives of the Association of Primary School Heads of Nigeria (AOPSHON), led by Mr. Iwanefun Olorunjune, for onward distribution to pupils across the schools.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, High Chief Caleb Molos emphasized that education remains one of the most powerful tools for societal transformation and sustainable development. He noted that the initiative was specifically designed to support parents struggling with the rising cost of educational materials while also encouraging pupils to remain focused on their academic pursuits.
The council chairman further expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for what he described as continuous support and commitment toward grassroots development and educational advancement in the state.
According to him, the state government’s support and leadership encouragement made the intervention possible.
High Chief Molos urged the pupils to make proper use of the exercise books and remain disciplined, hardworking, and committed to excellence in their studies, stressing that education remains the foundation upon which future leaders are built.
The event also became an emotional moment for many education stakeholders who acknowledged that such direct intervention from the local government had not been witnessed in the area for a long time.
In separate remarks, leaders of the Nigerian Union of Teachers and the Association of Primary School Heads of Nigeria expressed deep gratitude to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and High Chief Molos for remembering the needs of children in the riverine communities.
They described the gesture as a major morale booster for both pupils and teachers, adding that it would significantly assist many struggling families affected by economic hardship.
The education leaders, however, used the opportunity to passionately appeal to the state government and relevant authorities for the urgent deployment of more teachers to schools across Ese-Odo Local Government Area, noting that many schools currently face shortages of qualified teaching personnel.
Observers at the event noted that beyond the distribution of educational materials, the initiative sends a strong message about the importance of investing in human capital development at the grassroots level.
Several parents and community leaders present at the ceremony praised the chairman for prioritizing the welfare and future of children, particularly in difficult economic times when many families can barely afford school supplies.
The presentation ceremony was attended by notable government officials and council leaders including the Vice Chairman of Ese-Odo LGA, Olori Beauty Modimu-Ogbaro; the Secretary to the Local Government, Pastor Fidelis Ola Egbukuyomi; Supervisors; Special Advisers; and other principal officers of the Council.
The intervention is already being viewed by many residents as one of the most practical educational support programs recently introduced within the local government area, with calls growing for its continuity and expansion in the coming years.
